How Can You Honor Vincent’s Life?

Consider a donation to The Vincent William Baran Charitable Fund.

Vincent lived his entire life in Hudson, Ohio; a vibrant community in which he thrived. He was named after Saint Vincent de Paul, the patron of all charitable societies.

The Vincent William Baran Charitable Fund supports three categories of causes that were of particular significance for Vincent and remain so for the Baran family. These categories are:

1. Catholic educational institutions and access to those institutions for children and young adults from Northeast Ohio. Vincent benefited greatly from his education at Seton Catholic School, and he was a stalwart fan of the the Villanova Wildcats (Villanova University was where his parents met and earned their undergraduate degrees).

2. Organizations that promote the flourishing and development of children in Northeast Ohio. Vincent was fortunate to benefit from the numerous educational, artistic, health, and sports-related programs in his community.

3. Organizations that serve the needy or vulnerable people of Northeast Ohio. Vincent’s empathetic nature and desire to help others, congruent with the legacy of Saint Vincent de Paul, are inspirations to continue that work.

This fund is a donor-advised fund administered by the Hudson Community Foundation (HCF), which is a public charity. Here’s what that means:

  • Your donations to the fund are generally eligible for immediate tax deduction.

  • Periodically, the Baran family will make grant recommendations to HCF.

  • HCF will ensure that those grant recommendations (1) align with the purpose of this fund as described above and (2) are for donations to validated tax-exempt charities in the United States. If the grant recommendations meet those criteria, HCF is then able to make the Baran family’s desired donations from the fund.

The Baran family is particularly grateful to the Villanova University Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Class of 2002, which graciously organized raising the initial funds used to launch this effort. The entire amount raised in that effort went directly into The Vincent William Baran Charitable Fund.
