2025 Service Opportunities

Volunteer for in-person service opportunities we’ve coordinated with non-profit organizations that serve the poor and vulnerable in Northeast Ohio. Volunteer shirts will be provided to you. After signing up, a volunteer coordinator will be in touch to ensure you have everything you need for the Mighty Vincent Project!

  • Haven of Rest – setup and serve dinner

    • Who: 12 volunteers ages 13 and up

    • What:  Set up and serve evening meal in the shelter.  Help with clean up once the meal concludes.

    • When:  Friday, Sept. 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    • Where: 175 E Market St Akron OH 44308

  • Core Furniture Bank – moving and organizing furniture

    • Who: 6 volunteers ages 16 and up.  

    • What:  Folding linens (2-3 people) and moving furniture (2-3 people).

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

    • Where: 2900 State Road Cuyahoga Falls OH 44223

    Empower Sports  – assist with 5K fundraiser

    • Who: 25 volunteers ages 8 and up.  

    • What:  Assist with participant check in, course direction, water and food stations for the 5K fundraiser at Cleveland Zoo.  Volunteers may remain at the Zoo after the event.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m.

    • Where: 3900 Wildlife Way Cleveland OH 44109

    Akron Canton Regional Foodbank  – organize in foodbank

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 10 and up. 10-15 must attend with an adult.   

    • What:  Work in food pantry as well as sort and organize food for distribution.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

    • Where: 350 Opportunity Parkway Akron OH 44307

    Boys Hope Girls Hope  – meal and snack preparation

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 6 and up. 

    • What:  Prepare meals and package snacks for student scholars.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Boys Hope Girls Hope  – campus improvements

    • Who: 12 volunteers ages 10 and up. 

    • What:  Interior and exterior campus improvements - landscaping, cleaning, etc.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Camp Manatoc - planting trees

    • Who: 100 volunteers ages 10 and up. 

    • What:  Plant 800 seedling trees on the property.  Instructions provided. Dress for outdoor work and bring work gloves.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (can divide into shifts)

    • Where: 1075 Truxell Rd Peninsula OH 44264

    Celine’s Nest - cleaning of home for women and infants

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 10 and up. 

    • What: Work with residents to do deep cleaning of the home including common area.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

    • Where: Lakewood OH (address shared with volunteers)

    Chair-ity - donation warehouse sorting

    • Who: 15 volunteers ages 10 and up. 

    • What: Warehouse organization including sorting packing dishes and kitchenware and furniture.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

    • Where: 1330 E 38th St Cleveland OH 44114

    Cleveland Kids Book Bank - sorting and boxing books

    • Who: 20 volunteers ages 13 and up. 

    • What: Sorting, stickering and boxing hundreds of children's books inside our warehouse for distribution to kids in NEO.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

    • Where: 1391 West Parkway Cleveland OH 44114

    Medwish - sorting medical supplies

    • Who: 15 volunteers ages 13 and up. 

    • What: Sort, count, and pack medical supplies for humanitarian aid.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

    • Where: 1625 E. 31st St Cleveland OH 44114

    First Glance - play room organizing and cleaning

    • Who: 12 volunteers ages 9 and up. 

    • What: Organize and clean kids toy room and light kitchen organizing.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

     Fostering Hope – packing bags and birthday boxes

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 5 and up.  5-15 must attend with an adult.

    • What:  Packing Journey Bags and Birthday Boxes for children in foster care.  Items donated from the Mighty Vincent Project wishlist will be used in this packing session.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Haven of Rest – making beds, etc

    • Who: 12 volunteers ages 6 and up

    • What:  Making beds, folding PJ's and towels and putting them in tubs. Sorting clothing, coloring cards of encouragement.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    • Where: 175 E Market St Akron OH 44308 

    Haven of Rest – yard work and cards

    • Who: 12 volunteers ages 10 and up

    • What:  Yard work weather permitting, coloring cards of encouragement, sorting clothing, cleaning projects.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Refuge of Hope – organize donations

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 11 and up.  

    • What:  Work in Community Care Center sorting and organizing donations and light cleaning.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Refuge of Hope – serve lunch

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 15 and up.  

    • What:  Set up and serve lunch to guests.

    Homeless Charity and Village - serve lunch and projects

    • Who: 12 volunteers ages 11 and up. 

    • What: Serve lunch to guests and help with various projects on site.

    Kelly’s Grief Center - grounds upkeep

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 7 and up. 

    • What: Outdoor bed clean up, planting, and groundskeeping duties.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

    City Mission - pack bagged lunches

    • Who: 20 volunteers ages 7 and up. 

    • What: Prepare 180 bagged lunches at St. Mary Parish to deliver to Laura’s Home and Crossroads Mens Crisis Center (part of the City Mission).

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 20 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

    City Mission - deliver bagged lunches

    • Who: 1 volunteers ages 16 and up. 

    • What: Drive lunches from St. Mary Parish to Laura’s Home (part of the City Mission).

    • Who: 20 volunteers ages 13 and up.

  • Fostering Hope – weed therapeutic garden

    • Who: 15 volunteers ages 8 and up.  

    • What:  Weed, water, and maintain one of the therapeutic gardens used with children in foster care.

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Down Syndrome Association of NEO – assist at fall festival

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 14 and up

    • What:  Help with check-in, assist families with crafts, and clean up pavilion where snacks are served at a family festival at Patterson’s Fruit Farm.

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    Haven of Portage County – cleaning in shelter

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 8 and up

    • What:  Cleaning of mens as well as womens/childrens sleeping areas, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas.

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    RePlay for Kids – modify toys for inclusive access

    • Who: 25 volunteers ages 10 and up

    • What: Workshop to adapt mainstream, battery-powered toys with external switches so that children with disabilities can use them.

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

    • Where: Western Reserve Academy 115 College St Hudson OH 44236

    Down Syndrome Association of NEO – assist at fall festival

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 14 and up

    • Who: 15 volunteers ages 5 and up.  Around 6 volunteers to serve dinner should be ages 12 and up.

    • What:  Shop for and prepare a hot dinner to serve.  Some volunteers will serve dinner to guests at St. Herman House. Project coordinator to determine dinner menu and divide up cooking which may be done individually or as a group.  

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

    Zelie’s Home  – prepare and deliver hot dinner

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 5 and up

    • What:  Shop for and deliver a hot dinner for around 10-15 shelter residents.  Project coordinator to determine dinner menu and divide up cooking which may be done individually or as a group.

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    ACCESS Shelters – prepare and serve hot dinner

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 5 and up.  

    • What:  Shop for and prepare a hot dinner to serve.  Some volunteers will serve dinner to guests at ACCESS. Project coordinator to determine dinner menu and divide up cooking which may be done individually or as a group.  

    • When:  Sunday, Sept. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    • Where: 230 W. Market St Akron OH 44303

  • ACCESS Shelters – help with office move

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 18 and up.  

    • What:  The main offices are moving to a nearby building.  Help with packing up or unpacking boxes for ACCESS Shelters.

    • When:  Monday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    • Where: 230 W. Market St Akron OH 44303

    Down Syndrome Association of NEO – make snack bags

    • Who: 4 volunteers ages 10 and up

    • What:  Creating Sunburst Snack bags for event programming.

    RAHAB Ministries  – sorting of donations

    • Who: 6 volunteers ages 11 and up

    • What:  Sorting of donations of clothing and other items.

    Greater Cleveland Foodbank  – sort and package food

    • Who: 20 volunteers ages 6 and up

    • What:  Sorting and repackaging food and creating Kids Kit backpacks.

    Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Chapter - organizing materials for events

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 18 and up. 

    • What: Organizing materials for upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s events.

    • Who: 6 volunteers ages 18 and up.

    • Who: 10 volunteers ages 7 and up

    • What:  Shop for and prepare a hot dinner to serve.  May bring dinner already prepared or use their kitchen. Dinner must be set up to serve by 5:00 p.m.  If bringing food prepared ahead of time, arrive by 4:30-4:35.  Otherwise may arrive earlier to use their kitchen.

    • When:  Friday, Sept. 26 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Friends of the Poor Walk – setup/cleanup and collect donations

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 6 and up.  

    • What:  Help with set up/tear down of signs for the walk and help to keep the coffee/ice cream area tidy.  Collect donations at Wood Hollow Metro Park.  

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Ozanam Center @ Seton Catholic School – box and organize donations

    • Who: 8 volunteers ages 5 and up. Each child to attend with an adult

    • What:  Sort and package donations of children's shoes and toys for Ozanam Center.

    • When:  Saturday, Sept. 27 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • City Mission - deliver assembled snack bags

    • Who: 1 volunteers ages 16 and up. 

    • What: Drive and drop off 160 snack bags for children to Laura’s Home (part of the City Mission)

    • When:  Monday, Sept. 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
