The Vincent William Baran
Day of Service

Save the date (and note a BIG change)! The 4th Annual Vincent William Baran Day of Service will occur over eight days in September 2024.

Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22: Volunteer service project kickoff weekend! Most projects will occur on these two days.

Monday, Sept. 23 to Friday, Sept. 27: Each day of this week, we will likely have one daytime project for adults AND one late afternoon/evening project for adults and kids.

Saturday, Sept. 28: Join us for the Friends of the Poor Walk! No service projects this day … let’s all come together and finish the week in a big way.

See the incredible impact of the 2023 Day of Service.

Here are the official numbers:

  • 669 volunteers (a 39% increase from 2022!) performed 1,595 hours of service supporting 31 organizations

  • 91 pairs of shoes, 42 jackets, eight blankets, 100 "blessing bags" of toiletry items, and 215 toys and games were donated to those in need

  • Approximately 175 people participated in the Friends of the Poor Walk, raising more than $8,000 for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which directly supports those in need throughout Northeast Ohio

  • Approximately $16,000 was donated to the Vincent William Baran Charitable Fund in the months around this year's Day of Service

As promised, we will be making grants with that $16,000 to the various nonprofits with which we partnered for in-person service projects this year.

We intend to provide additional details about those grants and the nonprofits themselves on a periodic basis.

Thank you again to all who participated. We are so tremendously grateful, and we know that you made a difference. If you didn't participate this year, consider joining us in some way next year!

The mission of the Vincent William Baran Day of Service is to bring joy, passion, empathy, and love to the world through an annual day of in-person service. The Vincent William Baran Day of Service is an enduring, annual event, with the vision of it becoming one of the largest days of focused volunteer activity in the United States. We are so grateful for our many family members and friends who are also committed to this mission for the long-term.

Sincerely,
The Baran Family
